Dave Locke has been mastering CD releases for labels and independent artists for over 14 years and has currently mastered more than 2000 projects.
His ears and aesthetic touch can be heard on a wide variety of musical genres from Punk to Rap and from Pop to Classical.
Dave founded JP Masters in 1999 and has become one of the most trusted mastering engineers in the business.

While attending the Berklee College of Music in the early 90s, , Dave worked at Platinum Sound in Jamaica Plain, MA. This is where he cut his teeth, producing top-notch recordings under less-than-perfect circumstances. Resourcefulness and ingenuity allowed Dave to thrive and build a respectable clientele.

Feeling confident with his growing demand as an engineer, Dave went freelance, bringing projects into top area studios, including Soundworks Studios, Newbury Sound, Wellspring Sound, The Sonic Temple, Squid Hell, Prophet Sound, Rear Window Recording, and many others.

The experience he gained with computer-based, digital audio workstations also opened doors, landing him a position at GM Recordings, owned by the world-famous composer/conductor Gunther Schuller. GM is home to many highly-acclaimed jazz and classical recordings, and since 1994 Dave Locke has edited and mastered most of these, working side by side with Gunther himself.

In 1997 Dave began working at a successful, high-end Boston mastering facility, it was consistently utilized by Major and Independent labels alike. Here Dave mastered releases in the Pop, Rock, and Jazz genres, as well as Classical, Cape Verdian, Reggae, Rap and Hip Hop, all while working for GM and maintaining a busy freelance career.
